King's Table, also known as Tablut, is a historic board game that dates back 1,500 years and is considered a forerunner of chess. Originating in Lapland, this game was played by various Nordic and Russian cultures. The Vikings spread the game throughout Europe, India, and as far as Baghdad, where it influenced the development of modern chess from a blend of Tablut and Shantranj, an ancient Persian game.
