Off Planet Books & Puzzles is a new excellent source for new books, puzzles and fun. We started out as “Off Planet Books” in 2021 trying to sell the owner’s book: Hungry for Mars? Here’s Your Menu! — at Minnesota craft shows around the Twin Cities without much luck. After all, how many crafters go to a show looking for a non-fiction book about Mars no matter how good looking the author is? 😉
But eventually more custom products were added based on the owner’s *funny alien scenes on t-shirts, mugs and even puzzles. Since that still restricted the buyers, we soon began branching out selling other new books and puzzles. Several years adding products, testing sales at different types of shows and a move back to Iowa has led to a great retail spot in Pleasant Hill, IA.
In the spring of 2026 we changed our name to Off Planet Books & Puzzles to more accurately reflect what a majority of products are. And we had our grand opening September 19th, 2026 with the Pleasant Hill Chamber of Commerce.
